Background

Our client first visited our Harrogate kitchen showroom after being recommended by a previous customer. Following the recommendation, she met Sales Assistant Vicky, who introduced her to our kitchen design process and, as a referral customer, she also qualified for our recommendation scheme.

The existing kitchen no longer suited the way she wanted to live. Due to mobility requirements, accessibility was an important consideration throughout the design, alongside creating a kitchen that felt brighter, more spacious and easier to move around in.

While the homeowner already knew she wanted a timeless shaker kitchen finished with quartz worktops, she remained open to design ideas that would maximise the available space and improve everyday accessibility. With these priorities in mind, the project focused on creating a light, welcoming kitchen that balanced accessibility, storage and classic design.

Kitchen Design

Senior Designer Julie worked closely with our client to develop a layout that would maximise accessibility while creating a bright space, suited to everyday living.

The design centered around a spacious U-shaped layout, providing generous worktop space while maintaining wide walkways throughout the room, making moving around the kitchen comfortable and effortless.

Beautiful quartz worktops were selected to complement the soft shaker cabinetry, introducing a light, elegant finish that reflects natural light and enhances the sense of space. A traditional Belfast sink positioned beneath the window creates a natural focal point while adding timeless character to the room.

Eye level integrated oven and microwave makes no bending down, accessible for our client, while providing extensive pantry storage, ensuring everything has its place without compromising the clean appearance of the kitchen. Under-cabinet lighting further enhances the worktops while adding warmth and functionality to food preparation areas.

Respecting the property's original character was an important part of the design brief, with every element carefully chosen to complement the home's traditional features while introducing the practicality and clean lines of a contemporary kitchen. Natural timber flooring and the property's original exposed ceiling beams bring warmth and character to the space, balancing the lighter cabinetry and creating a welcoming environment that feels both timeless and beautifully in keeping with the home.

The project also included a dedicated utility room, finished with matching cabinetry, quartz worktops and additional storage to keep laundry and household tasks separate from the main kitchen.

Attention was given to ensuring every detail worked cohesively throughout the space, from the continuous worktops and coordinated cabinetry to the thoughtful positioning of storage and appliances, resulting in a kitchen that feels practical, elegant and built around the homeowner's lifestyle.

Installation

Following the design stage, the project moved seamlessly into installation.

The kitchen was installed by Lead Fitter Shaun, who carefully managed every stage of the installation, ensuring each element was completed with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Just two of the many reasons our customers choose us.

From fitting the cabinetry and quartz worktops through to installing the integrated appliances, lighting and finishing details, every aspect of the renovation was carried out with precision to bring Julie's design to life. As with every More Kitchens project, careful planning ensured the installation progressed smoothly while maintaining the highest standards throughout.

Installation Surveyor Rob worked closely alongside the team to ensure the project ran efficiently from start to finish. From the initial technical survey through to the final finishing touches, Rob helped coordinate every stage of the renovation, ensuring the completed project reflected the original design while delivering a smooth experience for the homeowner.

Project Outcome

The finished result is a bright, timeless kitchen that feels spacious, practical, and perfectly suited to the homeowner's needs.

The generous U-shaped layout creates excellent workflow while providing the accessibility required, with wide open spaces allowing comfortable movement throughout the room.

Extensive fitted storage, a dedicated utility room and durable quartz worktops combine to create a kitchen that is both highly functional and easy to maintain, while the lighter finishes maximise natural light and creates a calm, welcoming atmosphere.

What was once an outdated kitchen has now been transformed into a beautifully designed, accessible kitchen that's built around everyday living and designed to stand the test of time.
