Small U Shaped Kitchen Case Study | Bradford | More Kitchens

Published: 15 December 2022

Problem

A small U – shaped kitchen belonging to Mr. Fitzgerald was dated and had become increasingly difficult to use due to its limited space. In addition to the kitchen, there was a separate utility, which housed the washing machine, which Mr. Fitzgerald and his partner wanted to explore the possibility of combining into one open-plan kitchen design.

Solution

In the search for a company in West Yorkshire to deliver his desired kitchen, Mr. Fitzgerald contacted More Kitchens and booked a free design appointment after being referred to by an existing More Kitchens customer whom we had designed and fit a kitchen for.

Visited by Senior Designer Simon, Mr. Fitzgerald and Simon sat down to discuss potential design ideas and how they could best use the available kitchen space.

With several requirements for the new kitchen design, Mr. Fitzgerald and his partner wanted to explore the possibility of creating a functional space by removing the dividing wall between the kitchen and utility. Furthermore, new kitchen appliances and additional kitchen storage solutions were also high on the priority list, as was retaining the laminate kitchen flooring they currently had as this had only been fit one year prior.

Mr. Fitzgerald and his partner were also open to ideas and were keen for Simon’s input, given his knowledge of kitchen design. Simon’s suggestions, rather than remove the wall, were to open the cupboard and redesign it which would create the required storage space that the couple desired.

With the seamless kitchen layout agreed, Simon suggested a classic kitchen design, as this would be in keeping with the property while offering a blend of traditional and modern contemporary features.

Delighted with all suggestions and with an agreement in place Simon scheduled a design presentation at our Harrogate Kitchen showroom with Mr. Fitzgerald and his partner, to present a detailed quote, CAD visuals and assist them in choosing their kitchen finishing touches.

Small Kitchen Refurbishment

Delivering our fully project-managed design and installation service. Mr. Fitzgerald’s small U-shaped kitchen was transformed into a beautiful classic kitchen, consisting of traditional and contemporary modern features.

Installed by our multi-skilled fitter Craig, the new kitchen design was fit with light cream shaker-style kitchen storage units that were complimented by laminate brown kitchen worktops. Electrical kitchen appliances were integrated offering a flush finish which created a cleaner worktop space.

The separate utility remained in situ but was opened up and completely redesigned with new which maximised the available kitchen storage space.

Outcome

A dated small kitchen was completely transformed into a beautiful Classic Kitchen design fit with traditional shaker-style doors and modern final finishing kitchen touches.
