Background
After visiting our Mirfield showroom and speaking with Dawn about the More Kitchens design and installation process, the homeowners booked a free kitchen design appointment to begin exploring ideas for their kitchen renovation in Huddersfield.
Their existing kitchen needed a more considered layout that would make the room feel lighter, more spacious and easier to use day to day. While they were not completely sure on colours or finishes at the beginning, they were open to ideas and wanted guidance on how to create a modern fitted kitchen that felt calm, practical and beautifully put together.
The brief centered around creating a bright L-shaped kitchen with a better flow, improved storage and a clean, contemporary finish that would maximise the space available while keeping the room feeling open and uncluttered.

Design & Layout
Working closely with the homeowners, Senior Designer Julie developed a layout that would enhance both the functionality and feel of the room. The final L-shaped design makes excellent use of the available space, creating generous preparation areas while ensuring the kitchen feels open, practical and easy to navigate.
A key focus was creating a lighter, more spacious environment. By opting for sleek white handleless cabinetry throughout, the room immediately feels brighter and more expansive. The uninterrupted lines of the cabinetry help reduce visual clutter, allowing the design to feel calm, streamlined and contemporary.

The light worktops and matching marble-effect splash back continue this sense of openness, reflecting natural and artificial light around the room while introducing subtle detail and texture. Rather than competing for attention, each element works together to create a clean and cohesive aesthetic that feels timeless and elegant.
Thoughtful storage solutions have been incorporated throughout the layout, ensuring everyday items can be neatly organised and kept out of sight. This allows the worktops to remain clear and uncluttered, helping the kitchen maintain its minimalist appearance while still providing plenty of practical storage space.
The introduction of under-cabinet lighting adds another layer of warmth and functionality, highlighting the worktop areas and creating a softer ambience when required. Black accents, including the sink, tap and appliances, provide contrast against the lighter finishes, giving the kitchen a crisp, modern edge without overpowering the overall scheme.
Underfoot, the herringbone wood-effect flooring brings warmth and character to the space. Its natural tones help soften the clean contemporary lines, creating a kitchen that feels welcoming, balanced and comfortable for everyday living.

Installation
Installation was completed by Lead Fitter Adam, with the project overseen by Project Manager Rob, ensuring every stage of the renovation ran smoothly from start to finish.
From fitting the cabinetry and worktops through to aligning the handleless doors, installing the lighting and completing the final finishes, every element was carried out with precision. The result is a kitchen that feels seamless, polished and built to stand the test of time.
It’s another great example of how thoughtful design and skilled installation come together to create a kitchen that not only looks beautiful but works effortlessly every day. From design through to installation, More Kitchens, ensures you get the aspirational and functional space you require.
The Result
The finished result is a light, bright and beautifully balanced L-shaped kitchen that feels far more spacious and practical than before.
What began as an open brief has been transformed into a calm, linear kitchen design with generous storage, sleek finishes and a layout that works naturally for everyday life. The combination of white handleless cabinetry, marble-effect surfaces, black accents and warm herringbone flooring creates a space that feels modern without feeling cold.
Review
The homeowners were delighted with the completed kitchen, leaving a 5-star Trustpilot review that reflected their positive experience and satisfaction with the result.
