Traditional U Shaped Kitchen Case Study | Leeds | West Yorkshire

Published: 30 September 2020

Wanting to retain the Aga cooker, which was the focal feature of the kitchen design, a dated traditional concept was transformed into a timeless classic that captured the beauty of older traditional styles in a modern day manner.

Initially visiting our Leeds Kitchen Showroom for design inspiration, help and advice, Mr & Mrs Pass felt confident and comfortable in our full service design and fit offering that they proceeded to book a design appointment with Senior Designer, Simon.

A free kitchen design and quote service, Simon visited the property and following a detailed discussion and measuring of the existing space was able to offer expert help and advice with regards to a design.

With a focus on functionality a key requirement of the refurbishment was to utilise the available space with a view to incorporating a number of kitchen storage options.

Exploring an array of cupboard styles, including base, wall and slim line, the design of these built-in units had to compliment the Aga and tie in with a traditional kitchen design.

Suggesting a shaker style concept Simon proposed incorporating the Solent range of furniture which is a modern nod to the timeless classic and offers a smoother, easier to clean finish due to the absence of excessive detailing.

Offering balance and symmetry whilst incorporating neutral storage that maximised usable space Simon proposed the idea of removing the existing decorative chimney breast that enclosed the Aga and recommended that all appliances be integrated to offer a flush and aesthetically pleasing finish.

With an element of contrast dark granite kitchen worktops were installed to enclose the trademark porcelain Belfast sink and new wooden kitchen flooring incorporated to cement the traditional design.

It is now eight months since our kitchen was redesigned and fitted by More Kitchens. The whole project was well co-ordinated and went smoothly. It was completed on schedule and since then the design has proved successful. The quality of the units and the fitting of them was of a high standard. We would not hesitate to recommend More Kitchens to anyone looking for a professional and reliable service.
