Classic Peninsula Kitchen Case Study | Dewsbury | West Yorkshire

Published: 9 April 2021

With limited natural light combined with dark and dated furnishings made a small and awkwardly shaped kitchen feel restricted and busy.

Wanting a classic kitchen design that blended timeless tradition with contemporary concepts in a space that functionally flowed and was bright and airy, senior designer, Julie, had her work cut out if she was to deliver a full kitchen design and fitted kitchen service that achieved the customers brief.

Wanting to first manipulate the existing area, Julie proposed keeping the classic concept soft and minimal which would help bounce light around the room and create the illusion of space.

Incorporating a basic shaker style meant door detailing was kept to a minimum, and with the suggestion of a using a pale oyster finish, coupled with a simple curved kitchen handle delivered a balanced traditional style with a clean contemporary design.

Improving the flow of the kitchen, opposite to the U-shaped kitchen layout, Julie added a run of tall units which would be used to house integrated appliances in the form of a concealed fridge freezer, and a built-in oven and microwave, both installed at eye level for ease of access. This meant the kitchen worktops were left clear, making the space more functional and less busy.

Creating a classic cottage-esque look and feel an informal and sociable breakfast bar eatery was added with the use of a peninsular design extension to the oak effect kitchen worktop. Complimented with matching upstands and kitchen flooring, personalised touches in the form of pendent kitchen lighting and a decorative feature wall finished off the classic kitchen design with balanced precision.

We are really pleased with our new kitchen. Julie's design was amazing. We have a small kitchen but somehow, she managed to fit in both a dishwasher and a breakfast bar. The fitting by Gary and the team was excellent and Rob was brilliant in managing the whole process.

There were a few hiccups along the way with items being broken on delivery (not by them) but Gary and Rob took it in their stride and solved problems straight away. An extremely professional company and very friendly. Would definitely recommend them.
