Contemporary Handleless Kitchen Renovation | Brighouse | More Kitchens
Published: 29 April 2025
Background
Mr & Mrs Ball approached More Kitchens looking to update their dated kitchen, which had remained unchanged since their home extension was completed. The main issue they faced was the wasted space at the rear of the hob, which disrupted both the function and flow of the space. They wanted a more streamlined, contemporary kitchen design that would seamlessly integrate with their extension and better suit their lifestyle.
A key priority was creating a lighter, more open feel, with a floor that flowed throughout the space. The couple were also keen to modernise their appliances and improve the kitchen layout for everyday practicality and entertaining.
Objective
The main goal of the project was to remove outdated structural features and maximise space and usability. Mr & Mrs Ball wanted to achieve a minimal, handleless kitchen look, complete with sleek finishes and a better appliance arrangement. They specifically requested NEFF appliances — including the popular slide and hide oven—at more accessible heights for easier use. The flooring also needed to be low maintenance, unlike their existing tiled floor, which had become difficult to keep clean due to excessive grout lines.
Kitchen Design
Senior Designer Julie collaborated closely with Mr & Mrs Ball to bring their vision to life. A pivotal design decision was to lower the original sink wall, a leftover structure from before the extension. This clever adjustment allowed for deeper worktop space and enabled the hob to be positioned centrally creating a more sociable area for cooking and entertaining.

To improve practicality, the sink was moved to the side wall, helping to keep mess away from the main space. The dated serving hatch was removed, which allowed for a continuous run of wall units and improved visual flow.

To enhance the modern aesthetic, Julie recommended a sleek white gloss Integra handleless unit paired with Platinum Quartz worktops—subtly sparkled to add a refined touch. To eliminate awkward gaps and achieve a seamless, built-in appearance, all storage cabinetry was scribed to the ceiling.
For the flooring, a light-toned LVT was chosen to replace the existing tiles. This not only created a cleaner look but also resolved the grout maintenance issues the couple had previously faced.
The appliance suite was upgraded to NEFF cooking appliances—including the Slide&Hide oven—and a Bosch fridge-freezer. An undermount 1.5 bowl steel sink completed the clean, integrated look.

Kitchen Installation
Project Manager Rob oversaw the entire renovation, ensuring that the project progressed smoothly and to a high standard. Multi-Skilled Fitter Craig expertly handled all aspects of the fit-out, from cabinetry and appliance installation to fine detail finishes. His craftsmanship was complemented by Steve’s precise installation of the quartz worktops.

Project Outcome
The result is a bright, contemporary kitchen that flows effortlessly into the couple’s extended living space. By overcoming previous layout limitations and using a thoughtful, collaborative design approach, the new kitchen is not only beautiful but also highly functional and tailored to the clients’ needs.
From refined storage solutions to smart appliance positioning and a cleaner, more cohesive design, every element works together to deliver a space that Mr & Mrs Ball can truly enjoy.
Customer Review
Mr & Mrs Ball were delighted with the outcome and left a glowing 5-star review on Trustpilot:
“Excellent design advice and Project Management from Julie and Rob. Flexible to customer's needs. Special mention to Craig for all his hard work and expertise in fitting the cupboards and appliances and his advice on the best tap. And to Steve for the cleanly fitted worktop. All fitted perfectly.”
