Modern Dark Blue Shaker Kitchen | Leeds | More Kitchens

Background

After moving into their new home in Leeds, our clients were excited to make it their own. While the existing kitchen wasn’t particularly dated, it simply didn’t work for how they wanted to live. There was limited storage, the range oven was positioned at floor level, and the layout offered very little usable surface space. It lacked flow, practicality and any real sense of being a sociable family kitchen.

Having already decided to renovate other areas of the property at the same time including their bathroom and two bedrooms they visited our showroom to explore what might be possible. They wanted a kitchen renovation in Leeds that would feel more functional, more considered and ultimately more them.

Objective

The brief was clear, create a modern shaker kitchen that was practical, easy to use and designed around everyday life.

The clients loved the idea of everything being positioned at eye level to make cooking and day-to-day tasks more comfortable. Storage needed to improve significantly, and the layout had to feel open and sociable, connecting naturally with the large dining area.

Most importantly, they wanted to put their own stamp on the home something bold, stylish and confident.

Kitchen Design

Designer Julie completely reimagined the layout to improve both flow and functionality.

She proposed a tall bank of furniture along the bottom wall, instantly solving the storage issue and creating a strong visual feature within the room. This tall bank houses the oven and microwave at eye level, alongside an integrated fridge freezer and generous larger storage. A corner larder was carefully designed to return around the wall and neatly accommodate the boiler, ensuring every inch of space worked hard without compromising the overall aesthetic.

The old chimney breast, which once felt awkward and underused, was transformed into a dedicated drinks area adding personality and purpose to a previously redundant space.

To create a truly sociable kitchen layout, Julie positioned the induction hob on the peninsula. This subtle shift completely changed how the room functions. Cooking now faces into the dining area, allowing conversation to flow naturally and making the peninsula the heart of the space.

Mr Taylor fell in love with the idea of dark blue shaker cabinetry, paired with warm copper accents. The rich navy tones add depth and sophistication, while the copper handles bring warmth and character. Crisp white worktops lift the scheme beautifully, balancing the darker cabinetry and keeping the overall feel fresh and contemporary.

Wood effect flooring runs throughout the space, tying the kitchen and dining areas together and reinforcing the open plan feel. The result is a modern dark blue shaker kitchen in Leeds that feels confident, practical and designed to be lived in.

By managing the entire project in-house from design through to installation we maintain clarity, accountability and quality control at every stage. The result is a smoother process, fewer surprises and a finished space that looks exactly as it was intended.

Additional Works

Alongside the kitchen renovation, our team also completed the bathroom refurbishment and two bedroom updates within the same property. Managing multiple spaces simultaneously required careful coordination to ensure consistency in finish and minimal disruption throughout the home.
